Kamal points out that reporters have been saying that it will be produced only by Rajkamal International – and this is false, writes the star. What is true is that it will be produced jointly by the Pyramid Saimira Group and Rajkamal. It is to be a tri-lingual, with Hindi, Telugu and Tamil version. The series decider between India and Sri Lanka started off today in Colombo. India won the toss and elected to bat first. The recent test series between South Africa and England has been a see-saw fight. The third test played between the two teams at Edgbaston was no less a fight. After their innings defeat in the first Test match, India had to win the second test to stay alive in the series. After the blitzkrieg from Sehwag in the first innings, the bowlers did well to earn India a lead of 37. In the second innings India batted well but lost their way in the end setting a target of 307 to win. The Lankans lost their way initially in the second innings as Ishant ripped through the top order. Then Harbhajan and Kumble joined in the act and bundled out the Lankan batting line up for just 136 runs. Samaraweera was the only batsman to score a half century. Harbhajan picked up 4 wickets while Ishant Sharma picked up 3. Sehwag was the man of the match. The third test match will be played in Colombo on the 8th of August.

The third test between England and South Africa went underway yesterday at Birmingham. England won the toss and elected to bat first. South African bowlers took advantage of the first day conditions and never let England get away. None of the batsmen except for Cook and Bell could really make an impact on the scoreboard. Both Cook and Bell scored half centuries and took their team to a respectable total of 231. South African bowlers made merry with Nel and Kallis getting three each, while Ntini picked up two. South Africa came out to bat and ended the day at 38 for 1. Captain Graeme Smith was the only wicket to fall who was out to the bowling of Flintoff. The much awaited day in politics had finally ended, but this will go down as one of the black days in Indian politics. UPA goverment wins but there were many instances when the parliament was adjourned or postponed. There was misbehaviour from the MP's of both the parties. The main aim of the discussion was the Nuke deal but the opposition party seemed to be targetting individuals rather than general issues. Moreover, first time in the history of Indian politics did money actually come into picture. One BJP candidate actually claimed that he had been offered money by the opposiion camp. He brought a bag of money into the parliament and show cased it in front of the bench as well as the camera. The BJP candidate also claimed that 2 others were approached apart from him. Indian batsmen fail yet again in the final. India were set a target of 273 by the Sri Lankans. Seeing the trend of the series the target was achievable. However there was one man between India and the Asia Cup. The debutant in the series Ajantha Mendis was the hero for the Lankans. He cleaned up the Indian batting line up as he picked up 6 wickets in the match. None of the Indian batsmen could read him. He deservedly bagged the man of the match and the Lankans lifted the Asia Cup in rejoice. Simran has turned the tides towards her after her entry into TV Serials. Recently her Simran Thirai which is being telecasted from Monday to Friday at 8.30 in Jaya TV has made her popular yet again. She has broken the record of Kamal. Kamal had recently played 10 roles in Dasavatharam. Simran is all set to play fourteen roles in her TV serial Simran Thirai. The title of the story is Navavalli. Navavalli is based on Hindu mythology and Simran plays Amman who is incarnated in many roles. Simran’s roles include, among many others, a florist, snake charmer, astrologer, old woman, auto driver, servant maid, nurse, and a disciple girl. It will be indeed interesting to note how Simran handles all the roles.

Kuselan Audio Launched!!

The next movie of the SuperStar is Kuselan. This is a movie which has Rajnikanth playing the role of the Superstar in the movie. The music for the movie is being done by GV Prakash Kumar. The audio launch was held on June 30th at Le Meridian hotel. The conference hall at Le Meridian with a capacity of 400 was brimming with crowd that constitutes of VIPs and fans amounting to 1500. The function lasted for almost two hours, which consisted of a lot of speeches and the much awaited audio launch. Latha Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Aishwarya, Vadivelu, Abirami Ramanathan, and Sivaji films Ramkumar were the others present for the audio release.

Marmayogi moves to Sweden!!!

The next movie of Kamal is Marmayogi. It is another Magnus opus by Kamal Hassan with a huge budget. It has been found that Marmayogi will be moving to Sweden for shooting. The story of the movie is set along the 6th century BC. Sweden might be one among the locations which Kamal has in his mind and so he is shifting his crew to Sweden. Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachan, Hema Malini, Rekha and Kajol have been claimed to be the star cast of the movie. There is not much confirmation on the star cast yet, but these are the most likely people to act in the movie. So it wil be great to see the two legends Kamal and Amitabh together on screen.

Jane McGrath passes away!!!

Jane McGrath, the wife of the former Australain fast bowler Glenn McGrath, passed away because of some complications in her surgery. She had breast, hip as well as brain cancer and was battling it out for days. She along with her husband had set up the McGrath foundation, which had gone a long way in treating cancer patients. The Prime Minister along with the Australian team members spoke high about Jane and how she was so attached with the players and the team.

Asia Cup to kick off from tomorrow!!

There are many cricket tournaments being played across the country. Asia Cup is one of its kind. Asia Cup was started long back and since then it is being played regularly. In the beginning only India Pakistan and Sr Lanka battled it out for the cup. Then Bangladesh was included in the tournament. This years Asia Cup will see the inclusion of 2 other teams, namely Hong Kong and UAE. All the six teams will be battling it out for the cup. The tournament kicks off on the 24th and the finals will be played on the 6th of July. There are 2 groups in this tournament. Group A consists of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and UAE. Group B consists of India, Pakistan and Hong Kong. This promises to be a tough series.

Kamal's next project after Dasavatharam is another magnus opus in the name of Marmayogi. Already the news from the camp is delay. The innaugral pooja of Marmayogi will be postponed to July 25th 2008. earlier it was planned that the pooja will be held on the 13th of July. Pyramid Saimira was the reason for the postponement as they weren't prepared for a grand function but Kamal however is ready for a grand pooja to kick things off. The movie will be joint venture of Raj Kamal productions and Pyramid Saimira. It is already said that the shooting of the movie will take place across various cities.

Following the Dubai scandal in which Asif got arrested for possessing illicit drug materials, Asif is once again under the drug scandal. There were reports that, an Asian bowler had failed the dope Test in the IPL. Asif is the Asian bowler which the IPL officials were talking about. This is not the first time that Asif had been caught for possession of drugs. It is likely that Asif may suffer a life ban. PCB and ICC are inching to take a decision against Asif. Recently after the retirement of Shane Warne from Test Cricket, Australia have been struggling in the spin department. MacGill was their next choice, but because of some injury problems he hasn't been effective. After a very ordinary tour of West Indies he has decided that it is time to retire. The end result always looks very professional. The latest to joint the elite club is a song from Singh is King. Rs. 7 crores are going to be spent on a single song and to think that we once deemed Rs. 1 crore being spent on a single song in Bhaagam Bhag as an excess. Coincidence is that in both the movies Akshay Kumar is the lead star. The song will feature the most famous rap artist Snoop Dogg alomg with Akshay. The song is all set to be shot in Los Angeles,while the team is still planning on how to shoot the song. Only time will tell whether the song was worth a mammoth sum of 7 Crore.

Tips to GRE Aspirants...

I have been seeing many people preparing for the GRE. They spend most of the time in some coaching class. I have also taken up the GRE test and I have succeeded in scoring good marks in it. I did the same mistake of joining an institute(not mentioning the name here). I then felt that I have done the biggest of mistakes. The classes will not help you much. They teach the same old formulas and the same old techniques. Some techniques will be useful but you can actually solve the questions using your own tricks. Here is my advice to the GRE aspirants. Buy a Barrons book for yourself. Try learning all the 50 word lists. If you find it hard to crack the word lists use the mp3 file format of all the 50 word lists. You can find it in the internet. Make it a point to listen to it daily. Some people can easily grasp things when they listen to it rather than reading. For others use a dictionary or a thesauras and keep searching for the usage of the word until you are comfortable withe the word. Try using those words in your daily context. You will learn quickly in this way. Crack the quants part of Barrons. Do some quants exercises from books like Nova, Big book, etc. If you dont find these books dont worry I have other ways for it. Now coming to the test part. After you are done with reading everything, start taking tests. Tests are the only way to crack GRE. The more tests you take the more your timing and your accuracy will be improved. Take standard tests like Kaplan, Princeton, 800scores and Powerprep. Take powerprep in the end. This is not because it will judge your score. Many have the wrong perception that powerprep score will be close to your final GRE score. I personally never did well in all the powerprep tests. It is advisable to take powerprep in the end because it has the same user interface as the final GRE exam. If you take some other test say 800scores or Kaplan, the interface will be different and you will be confused when you enter the exam. After taking the tests analyse your weak point. Study that part hard and continue taking tests. Check whether you are improving. If not, nothing else can be done. Keep studying and hope that you will not repeat the same mistakes in the final GRE exam. The most important thing is that don't be discouraged by the scores you get in these exams. It is the final GRE exam that matters. If everything goes right as it did for me, you will end up on a very decent enough score. My final advice will be to schedule your test once you are half done with the preparation. You must give yourslef enough time to prepare for the exam. Dont hastily schedule your test and go half prepared for the test. Plan accordingly and crack your GRE. I hope this article might have helped a few. All the best for your future.

May and June are months where we should not stay in Chennai. This is the time when 'Agni Natchathiram' prevails in Chennai. 'Agni Natchathiram' is a Tamil word which means fire star. During this period Chennai almost burns like hell. Its very tough to survive in Chennai without an Air Conditioning. The time period between 12 pm and 3 pm is very very hot. Many people get dehydration, sun stroke, head aches, etc. The normal life of the people is affected. With water scarcity people spend their money buying water cans. A basic necessity like water is being sold. This is the situation in Chennai during summer. After the helmet rule has come into the existense, people find it very difficult to drive vehicles wearing the helmet under the hot sun. So the condition is quite pathetic.

I am a person who likes to hangout very frequently especially during weekends. I know that Chennai is famous for its beaches. The most famous beach in Chennai is the Marina beach. But to me the best beach is the Elliots beach now known as Besant Nagar beach. This is the best place to hangout in Chennai. Surrounded by a stream of restaurants, the beach is located in such a place where every possible recreation is possible. The beach is slowly becoming very famous and is being bombarded by all kinds of people. The problem with Marina is that the restaurants surrounding Marina are far off and are not of the best quality. While in Besant Nagar we have various ranges of restaurants. This can satisfy people of all classes. You can do skating in the outskirts of Planet Yum. The Broken Bridge of the Aayudha Ezhuthu/Yuva fame is another place to add to the popularity of the beach. Since Adyar, the most busiest place is near to this beach, transport facilities are also great. So please give this beach a try if you come to Chennai.

A day with the Orphan inmates!!

After a lot of planning and with only a very few responses, I joined hand with a few friends and decided that we would be visiting an Orphanage. The name of the orphanage is Good Life Center. We had intended to collect around 5000 rupees so that we can sponsor them food and offer certain articles that they need. The response was poor initially, but it picked up as time went by. Many people came forward with monetary contributions and some wanted to help me on the day of the event. Finally everything was arranged and we( a team of 8 people ) took off to the orphanage. The inmates were eagerly waiting our arrival. We started interacting with them and each one of them had some story to tell us. With heavy eyes and smiling faces we listened to their stories. We played, we sang, we spoke, we ran. We became one among them. Finally the food was served and the inmates were happy to eat special food prepared for them. We were moved when they offered prayers for our families wishing us long life. It was a great moment to cherish. It was my most memorable experience till date. Thanks to everyone who made this event possible.

I feel that the best part of my life is over. Did I enjoy it to the maximum is a question to be seriously answered? I still remember those days when I was in school. Those days when we had fun and had nothing to worry about. Doing homeworks for namesake and seeking for an opportunity to play with friends. Still remember the days when I used to dodge my parents and watch Television, while they would think I was doing homework. Little did I know that these days will be short lived. Then came a new phase in life. College life was full of fun, but with a little responsibility. I really miss those classes we bunked and sat in canteens and hostel. We used to chat a lot and play all sorts of games. Group studies was fun, because we did everything except studies. Bring back those days in my life. God, please give me a rewind button so that I can return back to my school days.
