After their innings defeat in the first Test match, India had to win the second test to stay alive in the series. After the blitzkrieg from Sehwag in the first innings, the bowlers did well to earn India a lead of 37. In the second innings India batted well but lost their way in the end setting a target of 307 to win. The Lankans lost their way initially in the second innings as Ishant ripped through the top order. Then Harbhajan and Kumble joined in the act and bundled out the Lankan batting line up for just 136 runs. Samaraweera was the only batsman to score a half century. Harbhajan picked up 4 wickets while Ishant Sharma picked up 3. Sehwag was the man of the match. The third test match will be played in Colombo on the 8th of August.
