The fourth and the final test of the series against England and South Africa was a dead rubber syndrome for South Africa. England sealed a consolation win. They were set a target of 198 which looked a achievable target for the England batsmen. The openers Strauss and Cook after a long time had a century stand. Cook was dismissed for 67. Although wickets tumbled in the end England won the game by 6 wickets. However his did not stop South Africa from winning the series 2-1. Kevin Pietersen was named the man of the match while he shared the man of the series with South African captain Graeme Smith.
